Fruits, Veggies, and the Texas Public School System

As a resident of one of the fattest states (sorry mississippi, you won the title for #1 fattest state in America) I consider childhood obesity a really sad problem we have in Texas. Nutrition is hugely important to me and I'm excited to hear that many school in Texas are taking proactive steps to improve health and nutrition education and are working to provide healthier options for kids in cafeterias.

With the economy struggling, many lower income families will turn to high fat, high calorie, high sugar foods with little or no nutritional value. This past week the university of texas was awarded a grant to expand a program that teaches students in the texas public schools about nutrition, physical fitness, and overall healthy living! YAY for veggies-loving active kids!!

Read more about the story here and go eat those veggies!
